Every year on the 22nd June the UK recognises Windrush Day. We’ll not only be marking the day but we’ve designated the whole of June as Windrush Month and will be exploring the impact of the Windrush generation on the UK through our theme ‘Celebrating the Caribbean pioneers of 1940s and 1950s Britain’.
October is International Black History Month in the UK and our theme is 'Celebrating our Changemakers’ - an examination of key moments in Black British history and the people behind them. Monumental events and people such as the 'Sons of Africa' abolitionist group, Henry Sylvester Williams and the First Pan African Conference in the early 1900s, and the Black Civil Rights groups of the 1960s and 1970s.
